The Cult ("Cult Jo", "we", "us") runs community circle gatherings in Amman, Jordan. This policy explains what we collect when you register for a session or message us on WhatsApp, how we use it, and what control you have over it.
What we collect
- Contact details — your name, phone number, and email address, from the registration form.
- Registration answers — the short details you share about yourself so we can place you in a circle.
- Session records — which sessions you registered for, your seat status, and whether payment was confirmed.
- Messages — the WhatsApp messages you exchange with our business account.
- Photos and video — images captured at our sessions.
We do not collect or store payment card details. Payments are handled outside our systems.
How we use it
- Placing you in a circle and confirming your seat.
- Sending you the location, timing, reminders, and any changes over WhatsApp.
- Telling you about upcoming sessions, if you have opted in.
- Understanding attendance so we can plan future circles.
WhatsApp messaging
We message you through the WhatsApp Business Platform. By giving us your number at registration, you agree to receive session-related messages from us. You can stop at any time by replying STOP or telling us directly, and we will remove you from the list. Your use of WhatsApp itself is also covered by WhatsApp's own privacy policy.
Photos from sessions
We photograph and film our circles for our website and social channels. If you would rather not appear, tell us on the night and we will keep you out of anything we publish. If a published photo already includes you and you want it removed, email us and we will take it down.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We share it only with the services that help us run the community — Meta Platforms for WhatsApp delivery, Cloudflare for hosting and data storage — and only as far as they need it to do that job. We may also disclose information where Jordanian law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your details while you are an active member of the community and for up to 24 months after your last session. After that we delete or anonymise them.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop messaging you. Email [email protected] and we will action it within 30 days.
Security
Your details sit in access-controlled systems and travel over encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you give us.
Age
Our sessions are for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will change the date at the top of this page.
